Waco Texas has always been on my Bucket List. This quaint little town is home to Baylor, The Spice Village, and the famous Magnolia Silos. When I solidified my plans for my summer in Austin, I instantly started plotting a stop in Waco. We left Wisconsin and headed to Saint Louis (you can read all about that HERE).
The next stop after our stay in St. Louis was Waco. It was almost 13 hours of driving to get to Waco from Missouri, so we were exhausted when we got there! Read on for recommendations for accommodations, food, and activities.
It felt so amazing to fall into our comfortable beds at the Hilton Waco when we got to Texas at 2am. After a good night’s sleep, we had some delicious Texas-shaped waffles for breakfast in the Hilton’s dining area! We grabbed some sodas from the Executive Lounge and headed out to adventure in Waco. The hotel had free parking and almost everything (the shopping and silos) were within walking distance. The hotel was clean and the staff were so friendly. It also had a super cute pool area I could have lounged by all day if I had time! I definitely recommend staying at the Hilton Waco next time you are in town.
The Hilton Waco had amazing snack/drink and breakfast options for us, so we didn’t even have to leave the hotel. We went to a Mexican place called Chuy’s for dinner one night and it was really yummy. I got a raspberry margarita, and it was one of the best ones I’ve ever had! For an after dinner treat, we had some delicious Nitrogen ice cream from Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream, which was also within walking distance of our hotel.
The 100 degree heat didn’t stop us from spending some time at the Silos. I’ve shopped here before and we didn’t really feel like waiting in a bunch of lines, so we skipped the shop and just walked around and took pictures. We got some yummy (and inexpensive) snow cones from one of the cute food trucks there to help cool down. It would be easy to spend an entire day enjoying the silos. They have tons of food and activities and sometimes they have entertainment and craft shows too!
We stopped by a lot of cute boutiques during our stay in Waco. My favorite was the Spice Market. The Spice Market was right across the street from our hotel, which was perfect! We also stopped by a boutique called Roots + Wings that was adorable. They carried Free People among other cute brands, so I just had to pick up a few things here! I got some super affordable dresses here that I can’t wait to wear this summer for my internship.
I’ve been to Waco once before and I really loved it. I’m so glad we got to stay again. We had an amazing stay at the Hilton Waco – I can’t wait to visit again! There are so many fun things to do in Waco. I love the small town Texas vibe the city gives.
This post is in collaboration with the Hilton Hotel in Waco. Thank you to the Hilton for working with me on this post. All opinions are my own.
