If you didn’t already know, I lived in Austin, Texas this summer. I actually JUST moved a few days ago, and I’m already missing Texas. A piece of my heart will always be in Austin! I’m already planning my return trip. Anyways, I wanted to share what a typical day in my life was like this summer. Every day was a brand new adventure and no two days looked the same! Read on to find out what one of these days looked like AND where to get some super awesome Texas-themed clothing and accessories.
9:00am // Wake up and get ready for the day
I’m not a morning person, so waking up is always a struggle. I try to get up by 9, but that definitely does not happen every day (or most days if I’m being honest). I knew that I had a lot of things to do on this particular day though, so I sucked it up and started my day at 9. Today I’m wearing my new favorite outfit from Tumbleweed Texstyles. This “Heck Yeah Texas” shirt is so cute and I’m obsessed with it. And bonus – it’s one of the softest shirts I own. Today I threw it on with a cute pair of jeans for a super casual and comfy outfit. My hair today is crazy (most days it is) and I didn’t feel like styling it, so I threw on Tumbleweed Texstyles’ Texas Flag Baseball hat over my second day curls.
9:45am // Head out the door and grab some kind of breakfast
I’m not really a breakfast gal and never have been. Honestly, most days I skip breakfast and just go straight to lunch later in the day. On this particular day though, I decided to pick up a smoothie to drink on the road. I love smoothies and juices for breakfast because you can just grab them and go. Plus, I feel super healthy after I drink one.
10:30am // Coffee date
Today some of my blog work required me to go to this cute little coffee shop and take some photos. I’ve been working on a super cool project with coffee shops in the Austin area, so stay tuned for that! It has consumed hours of my time over the span of this summer, and today is no exception. My cousin Lucy tagged along today, so we had a chance to just relax, drink coffee, and chat about life. It was so refreshing to pause for an hour during such a busy day.
12:15pm // Lunch time and shooting
Today’s lunch is a “working lunch.” I headed down to South Congress to meet up with the awesome staff at Burro Cheese Kitchen, a food truck that sells gourmet grilled cheeses. Today I am shooting some photos for them to use for marketing and social media. I love partnering with businesses to help not only expand my photography business, but to give them material they can be proud to post and advertise with. The best part is, after the shoot I got to eat all this yummy food! These grilled cheeses were BOMB.
1:15pm // More shooting for the blog
I shoot photos for the blog 3-4 days a week. I usually plan to shoot a few different posts during one day. I’m trying to learn how to be more efficient with this! Today I was shooting a few outfits and some things for an upcoming Austin travel guide post. This summer, I have pretty much been shooting alone with my self timer.
2:30pm // Starbucks and work
Time for my second coffee of the day (I know, I have issues). I like to go to Starbucks or a coffee shop at least a few times a week to have a few hours of uninterrupted work. Because when I work at home, let’s be honest, I get super distracted and hardly work at all. Today I’m drinking an iced caramel machiatto (my fave). I grabbed a coffee and a table and got to work! These adorable stickers on my laptop are also from Tumbleweed Texstyles. I spent the next few hours here doing computer work.
5:00pm // Time to explore Austin
Since the sun sets super late here in the summer, I love spending the last hour or two of my day downtown exploring. When I moved here, I made a bucket list of everything I wanted to see/do/go to during my time in Austin. I love having time to act like a tourist and walk around town with my camera in tow. More on what my bucket list contains will be coming soon!
7:00 // Work out
Not gonna lie, I definitely don’t work out every day. I have been trying to be better about being active though, so today I did some stretching and went for a walk. It is not the most intense workout, but at least I was out there being active!
7:45pm // Netflix and chill work
After I got home from my walk I crawled into my comfy bed and now it’s time to get to work. I have a lot of emails to catch up on, blog posts to work on, and photos to edit. Towards the end of the day I like to unwind by laying in bed and watching Netflix. I always have to be busy, so I usually do a few hours of work on my laptop while I watch.
8:30pm // Dinner
Not gonna lie, tonight I’m eating microwave mac and cheese. In the summer when I’m super busy, I like to grab something quick from the fridge. I’m actually obsessed with the microwave Hormel mac and cheese. It’s soooo good and you just put in the microwave so you don’t have to get any dishes dirty!
1:00am // Bedtime
I always go to bed way too late, which is something I’ve been trying to work on! I usually snuggle with my cousin’s cute dog Mia before bed. I don’t have and have never had a dog of my own, so it makes me so happy to be able to smother her with love.
