I’m not completely sure why, but I have always been a huge fan of Valentine’s Day! It’s such a fun day to remind the people you love how much they mean to you. Some people hate it (can’t blame you), but you don’t have to be a Valentine’s Day hater anymore! Today I’m sharing 5 fun ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day – celebrate with your boyfriend, your friends, or just celebrate solo (no shame). I know I would love to celebrate love day doing any (or all) five of these!
BREAKFAST IN BED
There’s nothing better than waking up to breakfast and eating it in your warm cozy bed. You can make breakfast to surprise your boyfriend, or if you’re single just make yourself breakfast and crawl back into bed and eat it. I’m not much of a chef, but if you’re feeling ambitious, you could even make a Valentine’s Day themed breakfast. Pinterest has tons of ideas for this, like heart shaped cinnamon rolls and heart shaped pancakes! Breakfast in bed is the best way to start the day.
PAINT NIGHT
Paint nights seem to be a super popular way to spend an evening. Honestly, I’ve never done one, but they look so fun! To find one near you, just google it. If you’re ballin’ on a budget, you could also DIY this and do it at home. Just hit up your local craft store and grab some canvases, paint, and brushes. And don’t forget the cocktails! You can make your own design or trace one you find online. This is such a fun and unique date idea that I bet you haven’t tried before! It’s hilarious to watch your boyfriend paint, FYI.
MOVIE NIGHT
This is my all time favorite date any day of the year. I’m definitely a homebody, so nothing sounds better to me than spending Valentine’s Day watching movies and eating junk food! I am extra and I love doing themed movie nights, so for Valentine’s Day I break out my candy hearts, popcorn, heart-shaped cookies, and Reese’s hearts. I like to binge chick flicks, but anything will work! It’s so fun to do a movie night with your friends – you could even have a sleepover!
SPA NIGHT
This is a great activity to do with the girls, or even with your boyfriend! Most guys won’t admit it, but they enjoy being pampered too. You could book an actual spa appointment or DIY it at your house. My favorite things to do during an at-home spa night are face masks and mani/pedis! Here and here is some Pinterest inspiration!
Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to get away for the weekend, or even just for a day. Since Valentine’s Day falls on a Thursday this year, plan something fun for this weekend! This doesn’t have to be something expensive – you can stay as close to home as you want. Nick and I have done day trips to Mall of America, Milwaukee, and Chicago. We’ve also done weekend trips to a ton of different places that were only a few hours away from home. None of them cost very much, but they are some of our favorite memories to look back on. Sometimes it’s so nice to get away with your friends or your boyfriend so you can spend some quality time together!
How are you spending Valentine’s Day this year? Are you riding solo or spending time with a loved one? Leave a comment letting me know your Vday plans! I’m definitely going to have a movie night and drink some WINE!
